The Green Salon Collective

and why I am proud to be apart of it!

As most of you know I have been make my little hairdressing business more sustainable and echo friendly, whilst i have a lot of ideas still to come I wanted to let you know about the latest change I have made.

Introducing The Green Salon Collective I am so proud to be within the first 50 people nationwide to sign up and one of the very first independent hairdressers on board!

So, who are they and what do they do?

Each time you have foils in your hair, I use a tube of hair colour on you or I sweep you hair into the hair bin what do you think happens to it? That’s right it gets thrown away.

I have always wondered if foil and colour tubes could be recycled but local councils won’t take them, that’s where The Green Salon Collective come in, their response to can you recycle these items is “HELL YEAH, it can!” now that’s the kind of answer I was looking for!

At present only 1% of foil used for hairdressing is recycled, I think that is truly shocking and something has got to change.

Your hair that normally ends up in landfill can also be recycled, there are many ways to recycle hair including, hair booms, hair mats, gardening and composting.

On top of all this 100% of their profit goes to charities such as Hair Cuts for the Homeless, Food Cycle and many more.
